My new proposal is finally done and handed over to my super agent, so to celebrate, I allowed myself a giant weekend of reading for pleasure.
After having it gaze longingly at me from the to-be-read pile, The Sweet Far Thing finally made it into my hands.
For me, if I'm going to read an 800+ page book, I need solid blocks of reading time. That's why, this book, which I purchased in hardcover when it first came out (a long while ago!) has been languishing. Also, it's the third book of a trilogy, so it's hard for me to let the series go. Maybe that accounts for the delay, too...
As I hoped, it was an awesome read and a great wrap up to Libba Bray's Gemma Doyle series. I highly recommend it.
So, I'm curious --
How many of you will wait to start a bigger book like I did? Do you save books for a big reading weekend, or do you nibble away over weeks and weeks? What is next in your stack for a pleasure reading weekend?
Hugs,
Heather

I definitely put special books aside for special times--airplane flights, long weekends, that kind of thing. I am hoping to soon find time to catch up on Jennifer Echol's books!
I don't save books to read unless I buy them for a specific purpose like an airplane or car trip. As soon as I buy a new book I have to read it right then and preferably in one sitting so I usually just do with less sleep or wait until I have a day off.
that's an interesting question and to be honest, I'm not sure if size has anything to do with it. I guess on some level it probably does.
I think I only put off larger (500+) page books if I have a bunch of smaller ones I'm more interested in reading. If it's one I'm dying for, I tend to make the time. It may take me four or five days to finish it (at lunch, before bed, etc.) but I'll make it work!
I've always been impatient--If I want to read something, I want to read it NOW. For bigger books, I just get more ambitious and creative about finding time to read it...usually that just means a little less sleep, but I also bring a book every where I go, and read whenever I'm waiting in the car, or anytime I have a couple free minutes.
