Thousands of writers will soon be descending upon the San Francisco airport. They will hug their friends one last time and mentally calculate the hours until the Washington D.C. conference as they walk to their gates to begin their journey home. Even though I couldn't be there physically this year, I was sent so many pictures and text messages that I feel like I didn't miss a thing.

First, I have to say I am so incredibly proud of our buzz girl
Simone. She looked so beautiful and was so gracious on Rita night! Her book Leaving Paradise is a wonderful, satisfying read that will resonate with all kinds of teens and adults. I couldn't be happier that RWA chose to honor her with a Rita nomination. This is just the beginning of great things to come for a sweet, funny, ambitious, and caring author who writes fearlessly for teens. I am proud to be your friend and colleague (aka Bee.).

I LOVED getting to see so many of the Buzz Girls in SF (and getting to room with the pretty-in-pink Simone :)!! I wish you ladies a wonderful year--in writing and in all things--until I get to see you again.
Getting to meet you Buzz ladies was one of the highlights of my first Nationals! Can't wait to do it again next year.
