Has It Really Been Three Years?

When Heather suggested we do a Third Anniversary week a while back, my first thought was, "It can't have been three years!" On the one hand, it feels like no time at all. On the other, it doesn't seem possible that everything that's occured since the Buzz blog started has been crammed into three short years.

A lot of crazy things have happened in this time, from meeting up with all the Buzz girls (and Marley on a Stick) in Dallas, to giving a workshop to a crowded room (with Tina and Steph sadly missing), to sharing in the triumphs and tribulations that are a part of any writing career.

But mostly what happened was books. Lots and lots of books.

Sometimes, as writers, it's hard to remember the good things. Our writing lives are full of deadlines and reviews and copyedits and changing editors or agents or both. Of worrying if we'll ever get another contract. Of worrying if we'll be able to fulfill the contracts we have. Of late night Googling when you might find your first awesome review... or your first awful one.

When you're bombarded with those kinds of things, it's hard to think positive. So I'm going to do it for us. I'm going to put the last three years into a nice, neat little perspective.

In the three years since the Buzz girls first became, well, the Buzz girls we've produced 20 books. That's 20 books between the seven of us (past and present). And that doesn't even count the ones we have on the way (which is at least another half dozen).

TWENTY BOOKS!!!

Now that's something to be proud of.

Okay, now to be entered to win your choice of a copy of OH. MY. GODS. (paperback) or GODDESS BOOT CAMP (hardcover) tell me something you've done in the last three years that you're really proud of.

Hugs,
TLC

Oh. My. Gods. and Goddess Boot Camp (out now!)

Congrats! 20 books is fabulous!! All you ladies rock :-)

In the last 3 years the thing I'm most proud of is that I stopped talking about writing my novel and wrote it. It was always an abstract thing and now I am editing and shaping it. Go me! lol

20 books? That is fantastic!

Over the past three years, I've....I've....er.... Well, I've kept my cats and plants alive. Which I'm proud of. I've even kept my cats alive while preventing them from eating my plants, which is tricky. :-)

Tera, I am thrilled to hear we produced 20 books! Wow!

And something I'm pretty proud of is how I managed to lose 25 pounds during 2007-2008. Okay, to be honest, some of it's been creeping back...but at least I got to my target weight for a time!

Wow, that is great. I just copied down some titles I've missed at added to my wish list!

Past 3 years...hmmmm...I have managed to stay home, neglecting my career to raise my kids. And I wouldn't trade a single day of it for all the books in the world.

In the last 3 years I'm really proud of the fact that I've become a much stronger person. For the longest time, I would never ever say anything to defend myself or anything and I'd let people walk all over me. Now, I'm not afraid to voice an opinion or tell someone I don't believe in that or something in a nice way.

Ooh, I'd love to win one of your books! :D
So... the thing I'm most proud of is not only finishing my first (still unpublished, but working on changing that) novel, but having the guts to actually start sending out query letters to various literary agents.

First, congrats! That's pretty awesome. :)

To answer your question - I became a nurse! I had wanted to be one for god, since high school! and finally made it. I'm continuing my education but just becoming one is something I'm so proud of. Plus, let me tell you, nursing school almost killed me! lol

No, seriously. I turned anemic (probably due to all the vending machines lunches) and got strep throat for the first time in my life and to make it all even better, it was when we were going over the heart system and I remember studying that if strep throat is not taken care of, meaning antibiotics, the bacteria could travel to the heart valves and make you have a heart attack.

So of course, I was SURE I was dying! But after finishing my antibiotics and getting past the sucky throat and everything, I was okay. :)

I am proud of the short story contest I won (almost) three years ago. I was in grade 7, and I won out of all of the junior classes combined. (The junior classes are grades 7, 8, and 9).
I was extremely happy and my parents were very proud of me. They still talk about it.

One word: Graduation.
I was the first person in my family to graduate from high school. Walking across that stage was the best feeling in the entire world!

First off...congrats, Buzz Girls! Those are great accomplishments!

For me, I'm proud that...hmm. Well, I started college for the first time three years ago, and have yet to drop out, despite the craziness, so I guess I can be proud of that. :D

Wow, twenty books in three years is amazing. You guys all rock!
I have two things I'm super proud of in the last three years. The first is finally writing a novel. It s so amazing to me that I had a complete story in my mind and I was able to write it all out and give it life.
The second thing I'm proud is that fact that I completed my Associate's degree while I was still in high school. I graduated last Spring with my diploma and my Associate of Arts. It wasn't easy and some quarters sucked, but I did it!

20 books in 3 years? That's amazing! If that doesn't speak volumes about what brilliant writers you all are, I don't know what does ;) Congrats!!

In the last 3 years I'm most proud of the fact that I went vegetarian, then made the transition to vegan. My body feels so much better for it and so does my consciousness when I see animals. It was really a great help in changing my outlook on life a lot, so I'm most proud of that.

And I have to say a kudos to all the people who commented here too.. I was reading through everyone elses and go you guys! How awesome :)

Congrats on the many books! They're tangible proof of the countless hours of sweat behind them.

I'm most proud of getting my master's in educational leadership. I'm a classroom teacher (high school, reading and English) and use YA books all the time with my kids. I never plan to leave the classroom, but getting my master's is something I've wanted to do for a long time!
