I first came upon the concept of a Little Black Dress while reading Sue Grafton's Kinsey Milhone series. And I adored the idea that she kept an "all purpose" little black dress in her car, for whenever the need struck!Sometime later I got my own (although I admit I keep it on a hanger in a closet). In fact, I have two now, one for winter, one for summer. And I'm thinking one of them might be perfect for an event I have coming up next month: my high school reunion.
How about you? Do you have an all-purpose little black dress that plays an important role in your wardrobe, or are you more about finding the right outfit for the right occasion?

I'm more of a find-the-right-outfit-for-the-right-occasion girl, but by necessity. I'm a redhead, so I have the accompanying dreadfully pale skin, and an all black dress, as much as I would love one, wouldn't look great on me, unfortunately.

I think I would have the LITTLE BLACK DRESS if I had more occasions to wear it.
I think my first Little Black Dress was my prom dress. The one I have now edges on the side of a little too much cleavage to be good for everyday use, but it's definitely a party wowser.

I'm more about finding the dress for the right occasion. And I don't think I've ever owned a little black dress!
I prefer green, or purple, or flowered. I like color!
And not so little. I don't do mini-skirts. :-)

I have one. it has some cream edging around the waist and at the bottom of the dress. it makes me feel like a goddess :)
I have a couple of good black dress standbys -- you can always dress them up with a scarf or great jewelry. That said, it's fun to shop for the occasion, too!
I think my entire wardrobe is made of black...skirts, tops, shorts, pants, you name it. I have a formal for an "any" occassion that I would left fall into this category, though. I think Audrey Hepburn coined it though, in BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S...LOL!
