Happy Saturday friends!

This week we're celebrating the launch of Tera Lynn Childs' second novel GODDESS BOOTCAMP! I know you want to win your VERY OWN copy, so stay tuned as to how to win!

Here is the AMAZING cover to taunt your tastebuds a bit!

I really really wanted to go to camp as a kid. I read the Babysitters Club Summer Vacation SUPER special and I was bound and determined to go to a camp, live in cabins, make lanyards (even though I didn't know what those were) and get a makeover. I re-read this book at least 10 times and begged and pleaded with my parents to send me.

Did not happen. My parents were too paranoid to send me away somewhere, so they agreed on the next best thing: Day Camp!

I got to attend a really fun artsy day camp near my house for the entire summer. We got to pick things to "specialize" in. I picked one thing I was good at and two I was not:

LITERATURE! (I was good at this one).

That summer I read books that would go on to be some of my favorites:

The Witch of Blackbird Pond - amazing book about prejudice, fear, friendship and loyalty.

To Kill a Mockingbird - enough said!

The second thing I specialized in was, wait for it....DRAMA!
Yikes! What had I gotten myself into?
I'd never been on stage before much less in a play! When too many people look at me, I start to shake!
It all turned out fine though and I got to be an African Princess and wear a headdress and have no lines....NICE!

The third thing I picked was....ADVERTISING! (This was a pretty advanced camp for 10 year olds, I now realize). I learned all about how to market products and understand audiences. My product was tinted lip gloss and I got to put together a fun skit for my campaign.
It was all fine and dandy until the very last day of day camp. A boy whose name I just can't remember asked for my phone number. Mind you, this had never happened before. My response?
Me: "Why?
Him: "So I can call you."
Me: "Why would you do that?"
Him: "To talk."
Me: "Oh. Well, okay, but you'll have to talk to my mother too."
He quickly lost interest in my phone number after that! So that's my camp experience! Has anyone had a "camp" romance they would want to share? How about books or movies about camp that you like? Leave a comment and you will be entered to win a copy of GODDESS BOOTCAMP!
Happy release week TLC!!!

Ooh! I was in the presence of Tera yesterday! I was right behind her in line at a book signing for Melissa de la Cruz, but I was too scared to introduce myself...

Hopefully, I'll be able to make her signing! I haven't read the series yet, but I'm going to start! I've heard so many great things about it :D

AHAHAH! Talk to your mother. I liked... wait for it.... Camp Rock. Okay, I admitted it, don't kill me! It was fun, it was funky, it had Joe from the Jonas Brothers when he was hot, it had singing and dancing...

So fun!

Hmm camp movies or books...I loved The Babysitters Club movie. The camp that they ran looked so chaotic but also really fun. I bet it was fun to film

I also love Heavyweights! That movie is so funny. Ben Stiller is great as the horrible leader of the fat camp. I can watch that over and over again.

The Parent Trap. That's the only movie I can remember for now. I like movies with twins! :D

Well I just finished reading Jen Calonita's book Sleepaway Girls and really liked it. It made me want to experience camp even though I've never been the type to like camping.

No camp romances, but I always did love the camp theme as well. I loved the Parent Trap growing up (the older version, since the newer one was not out yet).

I would love to read Jen Calonita's book that Lex mentioned. I like her Secrets of My Hollywood Life when I read it last summer.

OMG I can't believe I forgot about The Parent Trap! I loooove that movie. I think it might be one of my most watched movies ever. That's definitely one of my favorite camp movies ever.

That's a great story :)

I've never had a camp "romance" or anything, as I've never really been to a camp except girl scout camp :P And there's no guys there.

People mentioned 2 of my 3 favorite camp movies already though: Heavyweights and Parent Trap along with Fired Up!

Haha I love that BSC book. That super special was so awesome. I still remember the bus ride to camp like I was actually there!

My favorite book I have read about a camp was a book that was called Cindy goes to ballet camp. It was the 5th book in the Cindy (about a girl who starts to take ballet classes with her friends andballet is, as you may guess, the red line in the series) She goes to a ballet/dance camp for a week with her two friends, the planning was three friend, but rivalry between two of the friends has spoiled that. But they still have fun and learn a lotof fun dances, working for the end of week showcase. Still have plenty of fun memories on this book series.
