Sorry to have been the silent bee of late...
It's been busy in the Gibson hive of late. But it's been all good stuff. I post to you from my hotel room in South Beach Miami where I've been since Sunday. Before that, we were up in Clearwater Beach for the wedding my wonderful friend and critique partner, Diana Peterfreund. I can't download my pics yet, but let me assure you, she was the essence of a bridal magazine bride...tres gorgy!!!
But yeah...I missed out on the guilty pleasure post because I was experiencing my guilty pleasure...the beach. For me, it's so much more than just a vacation away from the cold New England weather that's set in. It's a total mind and body getaway. The sun it soothing to me. Yes, I wear sun block, but I've got Indian blood in me and I seem to come alive in the sun. I feel better when I sit out in the sun. The surf...wow...I could sit and listen to the waves all day pounding the shore and slipping back out in to the ocean. And who doesn't like squiggling their toes in the sand?
Here's a view from where we stayed in Clearwater. The sand there is sugar...honestly. White and sifted like flour. I highly recommend a visit there.
And here's a picture of our spot in Miami Beach. Every time we visit here, this is where we plop down to spend several hours. The art deco designs of the whole beach decor is just gorgeous.
So...what is your favorite beach and why?
Hugs,
Marley = )

Congratulations to the bride and groom!!!
I don't have a favorite beach, per se, but among my travels, I have particularly enjoyed the north shore of Oahu and the silky beaches in the Bahamas...
Oooh, my favorite EVER is South Beach! The sunning, the water-sports, Mangoes at night, B.E.D., Enrique Iglesias's house.....is there anything NOT amazing about that town???
Ditto on South Beach. Growing up on California beaches, I was so amazed at how deep the beach is and how blue the water. I spent a month in Naples on the Gulf Side and love the relative stillness of the water and how I could watch the storms rolling toward shore. When we lived in San Diego, though, I loved to visit the Coronado and walking the beach in front of the Hotel Del.
I love daytona. it rocks. lots of chicks w/their tops off.
A few years ago when I was studying Archeology in Italy at University, we went to see ancient Greek temple ruins in the tiny town on the Amalfi Coast that the locals still call Poseidonia. Where the main road ends is this beautiful beach with silver mountains rising up on either side. Here the Tyrrehian sea is a deep blue and where I first stuck my feet in the sea. I often wish I was back there squishing sand between my toes and gathering sea shells as the setting sun streaks the sky pink and purple. *contented sigh*
Sirena
Sirena...I'm so jealous of your time on the Amalfi Coast. It's one of those places on my "list" to visit.
I can't wait to see Diana's pics! And I'm so jealous of your beach vacay! I've got to get some of that powdered sugar sand beneath my toes soon!
