Random cool things this week

My brain is kind of fried from working on revisions for The Alpha Bet so I don't really have a theme today. I'm just going to share with you some random things that have brightened my week.
1) Finding a recipe for cookies that taste exactly like Girl Scout Thin Mints. These are totally delish and so easy to make. All you do is melt one bag of Ande's Mint Baking Chips then take Ritz Crackers (I know, right) and dip them in the chocolate. Lay on wax paper and chill. I sprinkled some green sugar on mine just to jazz them up. OMG, they are so good.
2) Fellow young adult authors Terri Clark and Wendy Toliver both making new books sales. Yay! I just love it when friends make new sales. Congrats, ladies!

3) I get to go on a date with my hubby Saturday night. We are going to a nice Italian restaurant and to see Four Christmases. I'm very excited.
4) Amazon sent me an email that a game I was thinking about purchasing was going on sale. I got Scene It for $11.99. Is there anything better than saving money?

5) Tonight is my four-year-old's birthday party. His theme is Scooby-Doo. I'm pretty sure I have everything I need. He wanted a chainsaw, fake of course. I can hardly wait to see his face when he opens it. I might not be as excited when the loud thing is still going at eleven o'clock tonight though! ;)
6) Online wish list websites. I'm having a hard time figuring out what to get for certain relatives this year. At http://www.mylistisonline.com/, they can go online and make a list of what they want. It is very easy and I'm going to start using it a lot earlier next year.

7) The coolest thing that happened this week was the release of my critique parter, Bethany Griffin's debut novel, Handcuffs. Bethany sold this book in 2006 and I can't even imagine the agony of waiting so long to see her awesome story in print. Handcuffs is an amazing book and you need to pick up a copy. Because Bethany is so awesome she is giving away two autographed copies of her book. All you have to do is tell me something that happened this week that you thought was cool. You have until 6am on December 13 to post. I'll announce the winners tomorrow morning.

Here's the blurb:

Parker Prescott is an Ice Princess. Cold, aloof, a snob. At least, that's what everyone says on Marion Hennessey's blog. And everyone reads Marion Hennessey's blog.
Parker Prescott is a middle child. She's the good one, the dependable one, the one her parents trust. Well . . . she used to be.
Parker Prescott's parents want her to break up with her boyfriend. But she already did, two weeks ago.
And then she realized it was a mistake. He came over. He had the handcuffs in his pocket. Everything went downhill from there. Sort of.
Parker Prescott's world is changing and she no longer knows who she is. Does anyone?

Congrats, Bethany. I'm so happy for you!

I hate to throw water on your Scene-It purchase, but you didn't save money--you SPENT $11.99! ;-)

Speaking of cool things -- A cool thing did happen yesterday. Some college friends posted a couple dozen photos from our FSU days over on Facebook and we've all been commenting back and forth like crazy! Fun times then -- Fun times now!

Oh wow! I have been waiting for Handcuffs to come out for a while!

Something cool that happened to me this week was that I got a phone call from my parents with great news! I am from Kentucky but moved to Georgia a little over a year ago. This was going to be my first Christmas without being at my parents home, so they are bringing Christmas to me! I am so excited!

I think that I have had a couple of cool things happen this week.

I am done with my classes for the year of 2008! Wahoo!

I got some great feedback on my final project in photography.

I have been getting really lucky while printing all my favorite photos in open lab. Meaning, that it only takes like 3 or 4 sheets of paper to get to the final product, which is GREAT!

My 3-week old niece smiled for real for the first time yesterday. My birthday is in 2 days.

My Grandpa might come down to visit in a month-we just found out on Tuesday.

And gas prices are down to $1.51 around here! Which, I thought we would never see again.

So, all in all, a very good week!

A very fun things that happened to me this week was that I read the book Forever Changes and loved it so much I was in tears by the end. It was such an amazing book. So I decided to write Brendan and tell him how much his story touched me.
He wrote back almost right away. Saying thank you and telling me why he wrote it.
I was so happy that he shared that with me.

So that's what was really FUN for me this week.

Yummy thin mints! I should look up that recipe.

Handcuff sounds really good, I'll look around for it at Barnes and Noble next weekend. :)

I'm skeptical, yet intrigued about the mint cookies -- they sound too good to be true! I think I might have to pass that idea onto my dad, who is a cookie fiend.

Have fun on the date!

hugs,

Heather

Interesting things... I saw the moon tonight (it's at it's closest to the Earth in a year) and it's super bright. I took a picture. And I found a flash/pen drive that I lost... which had a lot of important files on it. And it was outside... and wet... and it still worked!!!

I love the cover of Handcuffs!!! The font is awesome! I wish I had that font to use in making graphics.

It may not seem like much to anyone else, but my favorite hockey team -- the San Jose Sharks -- are at the top of the NHL and playing like maniacs! That is a cool thing for me.

I bet you had a great time this week cos there were so many cools things going on...

As for me, the coolest thing happened this week was that I ran into a childhood friend. We changed a lot but we realized each other at first sight ^^

There was also my close friend's bday and my winning a signed book!
