I have to brag.
I'm not a mother, but I'm a mother hen. And when a good friend has an amazing accomplishment, I have to gush just like she's a kid of mine.
My friend and critique parter, Wendy Toliver, has just debuted her new YA romantic comedy entitled MISS MATCH and it's just the most adorable book. I had the priviledge of reading this book in the early stages...before it was even bought. And let me tell you...what a fun, satisfying, heartwarming read this is.
Sasha Finnegan has always had a knack for setting people up, and at sixteen, she's turned her talent into an online business, molding high school crushes into true love. But Sasha finds her toughest match yet when hottie Derek Urban asks her to set him up with Sasha's gorgeous sister, Maddie. It's not that Derek isn't a good catch. In fact, after spending so much time with him, Sasha can't help but think he's perfect -- for her, that is. Can Sasha push her feelings aside for the sake of her business? Or has this miss finally found her match?
To celebrate Wendy's new release, I'm going to give away a copy of the book to our loyal Books, Boys, Buzz readers. Just leave a comment in the stream telling us about any matchmaking you or a friend has done in your life. Winner will be announced next Wednesday.
Congrats to Wendy!! Love ya, hon!!
Hugs,
Marley = )

Awww, thank you Marley! You are so awesome. :)
I know people don't want to hear about moms, but I wanted to say about MY mom. In my school group, there are a bunch of teenagers around my age. So, my mom will watch during the day, and in the evening, she'll tell me who she matched up with whom. We get a good laugh out of who she picks! I guess that counts as matchmaking, even if it IS my mom and I.
I did a matchmaking for my closest girl friend with my coolest guy friend because I thought they would be happy together. Things went so perfectly well until one day the guy came to me saying he thought he liked me more than the girl. That was such a disaster : (
Congrats, Wendy!
I've only been set up once. A friend set me up to meet a guy at her wedding. We've been together ever since! ;)
It wasn't really matchmaking, it was more like they needed another person in order to go out.
My best friend's junior year boyfriend's family was hosting a French exchange student. My best friend and her boyfriend wanted to go out but he couldn't leave the Frenchie behind. So they asked me to come along, since the 3 of us got along really well.
Long story short-Frenchie didn't talk much, best friend and I spent most of the "date" together talking and laughing, and it was a very bad date all around.

This does look like a fun book. Matchmaking, hmmm. I'm drawing a complete break. I will post another comment if I can think of an example.
I have never really set up one friend with another. And its never really been the other way around where they try to set me up. I usually just give advice on what to do in situations involving relationships.
This girl I know was set up with some guy she didn't even know for prom last year. She did it because her friend wanted her to go with her but then a guy asked her (the friend) and so she (the girl) didn't have a date for prom, but she still wanted to go to prom. So the friend set her up with a friend of her date's and so it was kinda like the two were setting their friends up together. It was funny because she kept on saying that she had a blind prom date. haha...sorry my explanation is so confusing!!

I just won this one from stephanie kuehnert's blog! I'm really excited to read it!
my co workers are trying to match me with a guy they know, didnt work out haha!
I just finished reading Miss Match the other night. Actually I couldn't sleep so I read it in one sitting. I thought it was adorable but the ending fell a little flat. Still adorable and I would totally read it again!

When I was younger I was one of the fastest girls on the playground so my friends would have me chase down the boys so the could kiss them haha.

The book sounds great! Congratulations, Wendy! In high school I set up one of my best friend's with one of my boyfriend's best friend's and guess what? They got married! (So did my boyfriend and I!) :)
You know it's bad when your grandmother starts trying to match you up. If I'm visiting and a boy enters the house, he better beware. She begins to list the hobbies and interests we share. It's sweet, but certainly frightening.
A few years ago, my friend Lily decided that I needed a boyfriend. During the time it was summer, and I didn't really go out much; it was after 7th grade and before 8th grade. There was one guy that I had liked during the school year, and I had managed to get his phone number.
My friend called him and asked him out for me. Shortly after, we met up at the park near my house. He lived near too, so it wasn't a problem. But after hanging out with him while we were together, it just felt all awkward. Plus, I'd be moving within a few weeks.
It was a fruitless endeavor, and it didn't last very long at all. Within a week, maybe two, I broke up with him.
Although I am now with an amazing guy, that I've been with for the past year and two and a half months. I wasn't set up with him though, but it did take a year for us to actually go out. When I liked him, he was with someone and vice versa, basically.
