BBG's Spring Break Party!

The Winners of the autographed copies of Spring Breakup are: THAO & ERIKA LYNN

Happy Monday, bees! The BBG's are mixing things up a bit this week due to the release of my third book, SPRING BREAKUP. Aspen and the gang are in Las Vegas for spring break when a beauty contestant goes missing and Aspen has to save the day, as usual! Las Vegas was the LAST place that Aspen wanted to spend her spring break but when Rand begged her to visit the Hoover Dam, she just couldn't resist. Unlike Aspen, I LOVE Las Vegas. I have to admit that I haven't been there in about six years but my hubby and I used to go at least once a year. We aren't big gamblers so we would mostly shop, go to shows, eat and people watch. I'm going to share some of my favorite Vegas locations with you, but first, here is a teaser of my new book available tomorrow.

RELATIONSHIPS ARE A GAMBLE
After some killer midterms, all I want during my spring break is a
little R&R-that is my boyfriend, Rand, and some rays. But Rand,
adorable geek that he is, begs me to go to Las Vegas with him to
visit the Hoover Dam with Angel and Lucas. I guess if I can't feel
sand between my perfectly pedicured toes, I could settle for shopping
on the Strip.
EVEN IF YOU'RE TOO YOUNG TO PLACE A BET
But my losing streak starts when my luggage goes MIA. Who loses a
purple suitcase? Then I get food poisoning from an all-you-can-eat
seafood buffet, and Angel breaks up with Lucas. Poor timing
considering our hotel is hosting the Miss Teen Queen Pageant-with
surgically enhanced beauty contestants everywhere you turn. When one
in particular, our very own Miss Illinois, decides to go AWOL, it's
up to me to represent my home state and find out what's really going
on. With my killer looks, and my killer instinct, I need to put down
the suntan lotion and get to the bottom of this-before my best friend
goes all drama queen on me.

Sounds fun, right? This book was just too fun to write. I loved being able to drop Aspen in Vegas and combine that with a beauty pageant. Now, slather on some sunscreen, grab a frothy drink and sit back while I take you to some of my favorite sights in Las Vegas.

People who really know me can attest to my Coke addiction. So the giant glass Coke bottle on the side of the Coca-Cola museum beckons me like the Gotham City bat signal beckons Batman. They serve ice-cold bottles of Coca-Cola that cans and fountain drinks just can't come close to competing with (can I get an Amen, Chuck?)
You can watch people climb the giant rock wall while enjoying your frosty libation or you can visit the M&M museum where you can get practically any color M&M you could possibly want.

From here we usually wander over to the MGM to get a peek at the lions. Speaking of wildlife, one year we were lucky enough to see the Siegfried & Roy show. We liked it but I'm really glad we weren't there the night that tiger went berserk. I guess Roy must be doing better considering he performed for charity with Montecore, the 380 lb. Bengal tiger who attacked him. You can watch the performance on ABC this Friday night. Our favorite shows were Danny Gans (who doesn't perform anymore but is seriously amazing!) and David Copperfield. I always kind of thought DC was a geek but he had women volunteering by the dozens to let him change what panties they were wearing. Magically, of course. It was crazy.

I think the best thing about Las Vegas is all the free stuff you can find to do. Of course I love the Bellagio fountains, the Mirage volcano (which got an overhaul last fall) but my favorite place to people watch is on some steps right by the Paris fountain. You can see some seriously interesting people walk by. I love this fountain so much that I had Aspen and Rand sharing a kiss by it.

When the soles on your shoes start melting from the brutal Vegas heat, the best place to chill out is the Mirage pool. I love standing back under the water fall. I plan to be extremely rich someday and have my own Hugh Hefner-like grotto.

After all this people watching and swimming I'm usually starving. My favorite place to eat is Kokomo's at the Mirage. Everything here is ala carte so take your platinum card. The food is divine and the tropical atmosphere can't be beat. In SPRING BREAKUP, Aspen and Rand enjoy a romantic dinner at a restaurant called Amazon which is suspiciously similar to Kokomo's.

I could talk about Vegas all day so I guess I better wrap it up. I hope that you enjoyed your first destination of spring break week. I'll be giving away two copies of Spring Breakup to random commenters. Tell me a Las Vegas destination that Aspen and her friends would enjoy! And if you don't win, you can still buy Spring Breakup starting tomorrow!
xo,
Stephanie

Congrats on your book release Stephanie ^^ Best luck with it.
That giant Coca Cola looks fabulous, I'd love to see it in real life. And if i had a chance to go to Vegas, i wouldn't be picky about the places i visited at all!

Wonderful blog, and congrats to you and Aspen on this newest release!

I, too, like Las Vegas (maybe don't love it, but do like it), and really enjoy the atmosphere inside the Paris hotel. The high vaulted ceilings that look like Paris at night...it's like you're transported across the ocean!

Congrats on your release!
I have never been to Vegas so I don't know much of what to visit but when my best friend went she did all the roller coaster and loved them so I suggest that.

You know how I feel about *living* in Vegas (and if not, then just suffice it to say that it's a big *don't* in my life) but the Strip ... well, that's a different story. I love the misters that keep you cool(ish) in 100+ heat. And the amazing array of restaurants (my favorite is VooDoo Steak at the Rio--not for the food, but for the amazing view). And all the crazy activities you can choose to do (like the dolphins at the Mirage and the roller-coaster at New York New York--you will never, ever see me on any of the rides on top of the Stratosphere!!!)

One of my other favorite things about Vegas is ... beyond Vegas. There are some amazing natural sites that you would not expect in the epicenter of the unnatural. Like Lake Meade, Mount Charleston (45 minutes away and they have SKIING!), Red Rocks, and Valley of Fire. If you're looking for a commune-with-nature experience, those are all excellent choices!

Hooorayyyyyy on the release, Steph! Can't wait to delve into Aspen and Rand's third story!!!

I'm attempting to give up soda for Lent, because, I too, love Coke.
And I'm so jealous that you got to go to Vegas. I want to go there for my honeymoon.

Great blog post! I also never visited Las Vegas but from what I've heard of it, Aspen and her friends should visit just some great shows and visit the place where they recreated Paris and The Statue of Liberty and Venice!

As far as Vegas goes; I'm old enough to know my weakness, and I don't need that kind of temptation!!! ;)

My daughter, Cindy, and I are looking forward to reading the new book. Maybe we'll read it together this time. ;)

Happy Release Day!!!

I don't really know much about Las Vegas, so I guess I'd recommend any show/etc. with lots of special effects!
