Don't go breakin my heart...

I get my heart broken several times a year. Every fall, I fall in love with a few new television programs only to have some dude at CBS or NBC smash my heart with a sledgehammer by canceling the best new show on TV. It's getting to the point where I'm just too scared to commit. I don't understand the cut-throatness of the TV biz. And I sure don't understand who they are polling to find out what's popular. Here are a few of my favs that I've never quite gotten over.

1)The Class- This show was beyond awesome. It starred Jason Ritter (the late John's son)and featured a group who were all in the same third grade class who reunited. I nearly cried when it got canceled. Thank you, CBS.

2)Out of Practice-This show had seasoned vets like Stockard Channing, Jennifer Tilly, and Henry Winkler. It focused on a family of all doctors and was so hilarious. Apparently I was the only one who thought so. Canceled by CBS.

3)Lipstick Jungle/Cashmere Mafia- I really liked both shows but LJ was my fav and lasted longer. I sometimes wonder if LJ would have stayed on if they wouldn't have both been on at the same time. The only bright spot to this is that hottie Kirby from LJ jumped over to Priviledged. Even though there are rumors that Priviledged might be canceled also. Sigh.
Stephanie, we can still be together. I'm just on the CW now, and disappointingly, I'll be wearing lots more clothes.

One of my new shows last fall was WORST WEEK. I laugh so hard every time I watch this show. While researching this blog post I found out that it may very well be canceled. My viewing habits are truly cursed.
Stephanie, I'll kick a CBS executive for you and tell them it is over with them forever!

Against my better judgment I took TLC's advice to watch CASTLE. Of course, I'm head over heels again. I really hope this relationship isn't just a fling.
Stephanie, meet me every Monday night. We can be together forever.

If you could bring any show back to life, what would it be?

And in very exciting news, congrats go out to our own little bee Tina Ferraro for being named a finalist in the Gayle Wilson Award of Excellence for her novel, HOW TO HOOK A HOTTIE. Congrats, Tina. We are proud of you!

xo,
Stephanie

I loved The Class. So funny. If I could bring back any show, I would totally bring back Veronica Mars. Let's hope those movie talks are for real!

I loved Lipstick Jungle too and I am having the same battle with watching Castle. I haven't yet but it is right there on abc.com and i don't want to get attached if they are gonna take it away from me.

If I could bring any tv show back it would be a toss up between Gilmore Girls and My So Called Life. GG because the ending was too abrupt and not to my satisfaction. I know My So Called Life is like forever old, but I want it back, it was good. Ohh, and Daria, I'd take Daria back.

I know what you mean. I was soo disappointed when Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip got cancelled. I loved it! And there are soo many more that I love that have gotten cancelled over the years.

I loved Lipstick Jungle too. I was addicted to it.

Other shows that I loved that were cancelled: Runaway (with Donnie Wahlberg), Boston Public, Windfall, and The Nine.

I had a close call with the writer's strike last year. Life on CBS had just become my favorite show EVER when the writers had to have their fit. There were rumors that it would be canceled due to its low popularity before the strike.

Luckily, they gave it another chance and I don't have to go to CBS to hunt down the producers. ^_^ I am sooo blessed.

Great post! I would bring back Moonlight, Veronica Mars, and the Ex-List. It was so hilarious and no one watched it!

And yes, big congrats to Tina!!! Woo-hoo!!

Also want to read How to Hook a Hottie.

I agree w/ Kelly...I want MOONLIGHT back, too.

I also agree w/ Sadako...MY SO-CALLED LIFE was freakin' awesome!!! because of Jared Leto.

And I miss ANGEL and BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER. I mean, really, what the hell else is Sarah Michelle Gellar going to do? She's only done two movies since she left the show. She should just go back to kicking some demon ass. In another town, of course, because Sunnydale is no longer.
