3-D. Seriously, what's the deal? Personally, I get a terrible headache watching anything in 3-D. My son even brought home a new dinosaur book that came with 3-D glasses. I know the studios make more money off the films because they can charge an extra fee but I just feel like I'm missing the point. I mean, seriously, how close to the action do you want to be, especially at something like Piranha?
I've been lucky that a few of the 3-D movies I've wanted to see like Shrek and Toy Story also came out in 2-D, but I'm getting kind of worried. What if this trend continues?
(Me and my hubby getting ready to ride the Toy Story Mania ride at Hollywood Studios, which I think is in 4-D. It was awesome. )
What about you, are you over the 3-D thing or am I just a buzzkill?xo,

I have to admit that I saw the Hubble IMAX movie today and it was phenomenal. I'm kind of digging the 3D! = )
I, too, am sick of 3-D. I would understand having some movies like Toy Story 3 and others where there was actually a need for 3-D. But having regular movies in 3-D drives me crazy!
I am definitely with you. I am so over 3D. I think it's ridiculous to practically make every movie 3D! It's cool, sure. But this is just overkill to make more money.

so, I'm kind of a fan of 3D---but I definitely agree that not everything needs to be in 3D---plus I have a problem with the quality of the content, or lack there of. It seems like there are a lot of movies lately that think if they throw in 3D, people won't notice their movie is crap. And also, I'm a little disappointed, because a lot of the 3D features aren't that good, just kind of lame and so-so.
But when it's done good, it totally rocks.
But for those not interested, I haven't seen anything come out that doesn't have the 2D option.
Oh, and it's interesting that this topic came up, because I was recently watching Jaws 3, and thinking what crappy effects it had--I was just attributing it to being the early '80s, when I realized that the alternate title was Jaws 3D, so I was watching a 2D movie, intended for 3D, and I gotta say, that movie needed all the help it could get!!!!
I find 3D kinda disturbing. And I hate those glasses. They make my nose ache.
For me, the last 3-D was at the IMAX, and it was a lot of fun, but I did find the glasses a bit annoying. You and your husband looked quite chic in them, though, I must say! =)
Oh I totally know what you mean! I have a 5 year old and 4 year old and my youngest cannot keep those glasses on the whole time anyway--not the mention the fact that 3D costs more! It seems like they are just making things 3D because they can--half the time they do NOTHING to add to the story! GRR. Pet peeve :-)
Have a great weekend!
I can definitely imagine how much trouble those glasses must be with kids!!!--However, if they're bothering you/pinching your nose--I've noticed that if I set my glasses so that they're tilting up at an angle, they're more comfortable.
Oh, thank goodness I'm not alone! I have to say that this whole 3-D thing is ridiculous. I mean, if you like seeing 3-D movies, that's great, but I personally would rather watch a movie in 2-D, without paying an extra fee. Then, to make matters worse, there are 3-D T.V.'s coming out. What is this world coming to??
With all this being said, I have to add that some movies, maybe, look better in 3-D than 2-D. This, I think, is more the case for horror movies with things jumping out at you and stuff. What make 3-D movies in the theater seem so ridiculous is paying and extra $3 EACH TIME for a pair of glasses. Then the theater has to audacity to ask to drop them in the bin. Ummm... excuse me, but I bought these, and I will bring them the next time you try to rip me off if I want to see a 3-D movie. Thank you! lol
When I am watching a 3-D movie, I don't usually see a difference. So 2-D vs. 3-D? I'm going to have to go with 3-D.
Yeah, I don't get 3-D movie mania either.
I did see Coraline in 3D and that was cool - but I wouldn't go to a movie just because it was
3D.
I'm really over 3D. I thought it was kind of neat with Avatar, but the last four times I've seen a movie in 3D, I've decided each time it would be the last time!
And indeed, when I saw Toy Story 3 and Despicable Me, I saw the 2D versions...
The glasses are uncomfortable, and sometimes dirty. And I hate being told where to look! And If they'd sell you the glasses for $3 and let you save them and bring them in next time, I'd be much happier about it.

GET RID OF IT! MAKE IT ILLEGAL! PLEASE, PEOPLE, STOP THE MADNESS! Sorry, but really? HP and Breaking Dawn finales in 3D? Were the last several billion-$$ 2-D versions not enough for you people?!
Okay, sorry, I'm taking deep breaths. But I do hate the trend. Especially when bad movies (Clash of the Titans, anyone?) charge an extra $3 to jump out at you once or twice.
Get over it, Hollywood. Please. I have.
I'm not much of a movie-goer, but it seems like every other movie released nowadays is in 3D. If that annoys me as someone who hasn't even gone to a theatre since 2006, I can only imagine how annoying it is to someone who goes on a regular basis!
