Recipe For a Perfect Winter Day

As hard as it is to believe in some parts of the country (i.e. OKC, where my folks are iced in) it's been ungodly hot in Houston this week. Today my car thermometer read 88 degrees. (Yes, you read that right). All this hot, humid weather has me dreaming of true winter weather. In honor of my fantasy and those readers currently experience Mother Nature's frigid side, here's my recipe for a perfect winter day:

1. Windows closed, but blinds open. (So you can see the winter, but not feel it.)

2. Thermostat set to toasty. (Not too hot, or you won't be able to truly enjoy #5.)

3. A warm, oversized, fleecy robe. (Knotted tight around your waist as you curl up in a comfy chair with #4.)

4. Stack of books waiting to be devoured (as I am currently devouring J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series... yum!).

5. Steaming hot bath, seasoned with tasty bubblebath (sugarplum is my flavor du jour) and bath oil (to leave your skin sleek and soft).

6. Candles glowing everywhere. (I got a dozen tiny votives at Hobby Lobby last week for an amazing $2.50!)

7. Warming-from-the-inside-out beverage of choice: hot tea (try Bigelow's Caramel and Vanilla with a splash of milk and a dash of sugar), gourmet hot chocolate (my grocery store sells single serving packs in yummy flavors like hazelnut and mint), or (if you're of age) and nice red wine (currently sipping on Rex Goliath Pinot Noir).

That's my perfect winter day... what's yours?

Hugs,
TLC

Oh, TLC, that sounds heavenly. In fact, in Los Angeles, the temps have dropped to what we call "cold." I really enjoyed today, going and picking out a Christmas tree in jeans and a jacket, because believe me, there have been some Christmases where I've been in shorts a a T-shirt. Then we came home and made cocoa and vanilla cappuccinos. No complaints from Tina today!

That's pretty much my recipe:) As long as I don't have to drive, I don't mind the snow. We don't get it much here in oregon... just rain. I remember it snowed about six inches once and my daughter had a friend here. I made a big brunch while they played outside. When they came in to hot food and cocoa, they thought I was the coolest Mom ever.

I hate being cold so I never go out in it, but I like watching others play in it.

Glad to see that Bigelow tea is included in your perfect day!

Maybe you can ice some of our teas (green tea with mango) for those hot days in Houston!

I looooooooove Bigelow teas, but I had NO idea there was a vanilla caramel! Mmmm...salivating.

What a perfect day, TLC! Just bought the second Black Dagger Brotherhood book last night. But it has to wait in line behind NEW MOON which I started and could NOT put down!

= )

Okay, how totally-freaking-cool is it that Bigelow Tea read and commented on this post? I'm in love...and never buying another brand of tea again! =) Thanks Valorie!

Tina -- I'm jealous of your Christmas tree picking (I'm waiting for my tree stand to arrive from OKC).

Teri -- I remember being so desperate to go play in snow as a kid...now, not so much.

Marley -- Ugh, I still have Steph's copy of NEW MOON to read. It's on the list.

Jennifer -- Thanks for stopping by. I'm sure you get your share of cold winter days up there!

Hugs all,
TLC

Ha, that is beyond cool that Valorie posted. I can't believe no one from Coca-Cola has ever posted as many times as I've admitted I'm an addict! :)
It is FREEZING here. We've had tons of freezing rain so it's really slick. While it's hard to get around in, it makes it feel more like Christmas. :)
