It's In The Way He Walks

Just about everyone can point to the characteristics that make up a Bad Boy, be it in-your-face attitude, shrugs, scowls, maybe tough-guy vocab or accent. But for me, it’s all about The Walk. The rolled-back shoulders, the head held high (or sometimes low to avoid eye contact), the ready-for-action legs and arms.

Like Kevin Dillon from HBO’s Entourage, making his point with his body as well as his words:

And this year’s 007, Daniel Craig, moving into action on the beach:

The Walk projects the image of cool, the mess-with-me-and-you’ll pay. And of course, throw in a weapon or two, and The Walk transforms into The Strut:

Or the "Do NOT mess with me":

But no matter what components make up your idea of the perfect Bad Boy, I know you’ll love Simone Elkeles’ Bad Boy, Caleb Becker. Check LEAVING PARADISE out for yourself.

And tell me what lets you know a bad boy one you see one!

Tina,

You know, I never realized it until your post. YOU'RE RIGHT! It's all about the confident walk which makes a guy seem tough, hot and in control.

So if you're a guy, if you don't strut around like you're all that...maybe it's time to change the way you move. Girls DO notice!

Thanks, Simone. And you know when that head-thunk first came to me? Watching 5th and 6th grade boys enter the elementary school playground in the morning, how some of their walks changed the moment they saw their friends. My son included! :)

LOL! Yep, a walk can say so much, Tina!

The walk, the stare, and the stance can make one bad boy. :) :)

Tina,
You are SO right. I was just thinking about "the walk" yesterday while watching my boys. My youngest has always been so much more outgoing than my oldest. He's the one who gets into more trouble too. He has this little strut, like he's announcing to the world that he knows he's Hot S**t and if they don't like it, they can kiss his Huggies! I guess I'm raising at least one bad boy!
xo,
Steph

You are right about the walk, Tina. It all starts right there, before he even opens his mouth!

Oh Tina, yummy yummy pictures!

Hmmm, Will Smith...

The walk is so telling because it is an outward expression of the inner confidence that makes a bad boy so worth wanting. I mean, how bad can a boy be if he's not confident enough to back up his talk with serious action?

Hugs,
TLC

A-ha, Steph, that makes both of us raising at least one son with The Walk!

And LOL, Heather, that it's the precursor to The Mouth!

And yeah, TLC, I agree that The Walk speaks volumes!

Thanks for weighing in!

I remember seeing a kid running with his arms flailing around and I'm thinking...those flailing arms will probably calm down when he's a teen. when a guy is not only walking...when he's running you can tell he's hot stuff.

Ooooh, I love Entourage. We downloaded the first three seasons. We have seven more to watch in the second season. And for all his confidence, Drama hates his calves. LOL.

And while the jury is still out on the new James Bond, thanks for this visual. I like it as much as I did when I saw it the first two times

Great choices here, Tina! I just love Johnny Drama. What a great character! And Bad Boys, well, I'm a sucker for that movie...over and over and over again!

Marley = )

You're right, Simone, running is as telling as walking in a Bad Boy.

G.W., I got started on Entourage and got side-tracked. Good to hear you like it so much...I need to go back.

And yeah, Marley, that Bad Boy movie is something else!

Thanks for all your thoughts!
