Fears....and yet another giveaway

Hello chicks and chucks....Happy Wednesday!

Today we're talking about something a bit more serious...our biggest fears. Everyone says, "There is nothing to fear but fear itself..." but honestly does it ever feel that way? Not for me definitely!

I think my biggest fear is...public speaking! I am a natural introvert and getting up in front of a room full of people and talking about something, anything, is just the most nerve-racking thing you can think of.

I had a give a presentation at work today and I was *so* anxious about it that I completely missed enjoying the experience of presenting a topic I know EVERYTHING about to a group of interested people.

My second big fear is being all alone when I'm old. I know this is one of those fears that lots of people have, but it's something I tend to over-think. My husband and I don't have kids and I only have one sister. What if something happens to the two of them? Will I live out the rest of my life with no one who cares about me?

I know this is completely irrational seeing how I have amazing friends since middle school and a very large family spread all over the world...but who said fears were logical? I keep having visions of me coming home to an empty house every night, watching TV and going to bed...until one day I die in my sleep and no one discovers me for days....gruesome!

My third biggie is losing my cat. You guys may laugh, but the thought of anything happening to my li'l boy gives me so much anxiety. Thinking about him jumping off our balcony or being attacked by raccoons, or simply growing old is enough to bring tears to my eyes.

I know...irrational. I love that cat just way too much.

So that I've confessed, darling readers, it's your turn....what is YOUR biggest fear?

This is the last of the July giveaways for the advanced copy of SHRINK TO FIT. To win, just tell me, what is your biggest fear? I *finally* go the go-ahead from Harlequin to give these out so I will be headed to the PO to make a series of mailings on Saturday!

My biggest fears are not finding my future husband and starting our family. That scares me because that has been my biggest dream since I was a little girl--to be a great wife and mother.
My other fear is much more irrational. Birds. They scare the living daylights outta me. I'll be driving along and if a bird flies close enough to my windshield, I will scream; people in the car with me start to laugh. I have a friend who used to have this bird who loved to torture me, so anytime a bird gets close to me to flap its wings in my face, I just freak out. Ugh.

I'd love to say something deep and meaningful, like I fear there will never be peace in the Middle East, but I'll be honest -- my biggest fear is bugs.

Big bugs. Cockroaches, grasshoppers, crickets, big spiders -- ugh, I get chills just typing their names.

Though death scares me too.

So I guess my motto would be "We have nothing to fear but fear itself. Fear, and bugs. And death is, like, really really bad too."

I am afraid of dying. I also lost my doggie a few months ago and I was devastated. She was a German Shepherd that I had for over 13 years and she was a 3 year old stray when I adopted her from the pound. We'd been through a lot together!

We lost our ten year old dog about two months ago and it was devastating. I still miss him everyday.
I don't talk about my biggest fears just in case all that "secret" business isn't really a crock.

Dona, two years ago, one of my biggest fears would have been the death of our family cat, too. She was the remaining of our two, and while I knew she was looking at end of her long life, it completely unnerved me. Eventually, she did die, and I just want to share with you, that I coped much better than I'd feared. We now have another one, and while I adore him, there's still a special place in my heart for the ones that came before.

Wow, what an interesting (and sad!) topic.
I definitely hear you on the cat dying.
For me, it's not so much fear of people (human and non-human) around me dying, but my greatest fear is people disappearing and me never knowing what happened to them.
At least with death, you know where you're at, and you can deal with it.
Disappearances taunt you with hope and grief in equal measures.

my biggest fear is death and getting in huge trouble no matter what it is. I am scared of death because I still want to be the same person and I don't want to stop breathing or anything I want to live forever. I am afraid of getting in any type of trouble because if I do I pay for it big time whether its something I did or My parents or a relative talks about it a million times over with me. It gets me scared that everyone is going to know or something like that. Ok well those are my biggest fears congrats on your book I have never read any of them but congrats anyways!

I would be completely destroyed if my dog died she is a chinese shar pei with not a lot of wrinkles she is a rare chinese sharpei and she is black. She is young now not like extremely small but she is young so I am not worried right now but when she starts getting older I get worried. Her Birthday is on New Years in December.

I'd have to say that my biggest fear is never finding a guy that would actually want to be with me for the rest of my life. Having two kids (twins) at my age (20) tends to scare guys off. So I'm just really afraid that I won't find a nice guy who could actually stand to help raise my girls. I'm so scared I'll be alone for the rest of my life. I know that may sound silly because I'm only 20 and all but it really does scare me.

And I'd have to say spiders is my second biggest fear, especially the big ones. lol

Pardon me while I bring the "vibe" down, but my biggest fear if haveing to bury one of my children. Just the thought knots me up inside. I can't even imagine the pain that I would feel.

I'd have to say that my greatest fear is any of my loved ones dying. My gandmother died a couple of years ago and it was really hard.

I have an irrational fear of ants. When I was younger, ants always snuck into the house. One day, I was going to take a bath, and I put my hand under the faucet and turned it on. But ants had gotten into the water, thousand and thousands of ants started flowing into the tub and up my arm.

Just writing that game me the heebie-geebies.

My biggest fear is my parents dying and leaving me to care for my little sister. I'm also very scared of big dogs. If I see one coming down the street I quickly head the other way.

My biggest fear is never trusting another man. Leaving my babies behind if something happened to me. Never getting to do all the great things I want to do.
