What makes me buzz.....

If you talked to some people (my mom & husband) they would probably mislead you into thinking that I am high maintainence. I do not require a tiara (at least not at ALL times), I do my own laundry (and everyone else's), and my license plates do not say, DIVA. It really doesn't take that much to make me happy and give me a little buzz. You aren't buying it? Let me prove it. These are just a few of the things that give me a daily buzz.
1) Stumbling upon things that remind me of my upcoming release, REVENGE OF THE HOMECOMING QUEEN. I found this adorable necklace for $6 and it came with the cutest little frog jewelry book. Doesn't he look exactly like my cover frog? I asked him if he did modeling, but his only reply was, "ribbit". Freaking models...

2) Dry toilet seats- One might think this is a given but remember I live in a house with two toddlers and a man/child. Our ONE bathroom is pretty much the equivalent of one at a frat house. If you haven't ever plopped your butt down in the middle of the night in a puddle of someone else's urine you are very lucky. Occasionally, the boys will actually hit make the target. Those are very good days!
3) Seeing a brown horse everyday- Not because I like horses because I'm not really a fan. It goes back to this whole camping trip as a Girl Scout on these really steep trails and me trapped on the back of some renegade horse determined to make his own trail. I still have nightmares about it. Okay, so every morning during my walk I pass this brown horse (not the one in the pic) and it makes me really happy to see him because it means that I am 3/4 of the way done walking my three miles! :) I was going to take his pic but he is really snotty and he won't even come close to the fence unless you have an apple. Talk about a diva!

4) Spray-on suntan lotion- Even though you practically need to wear an oxygen mask just to apply the stuff, I love it. Because YES, I really am too lazy to rub it in.

5) Afternoon matinees with my husband when we are the only ones in the theater- We used to do this all the time since my hubby usually has weekdays off but once the kiddies came, it seriously curtailed our movie going. We got to go see Disturbia yesterday. It was really good. But I'm kind of crushing on Shia in a big way so I might not be the best judge. (Mental telepathy to Shia: You want to play the male m/c in my book really, really bad. But you better hurry b/c pretty soon you'll be too old)

6) Surprises on my computer- The coolest thing EVER happened yesterday. I logged into myspace and I had a comment from a girl that I had approved as a friend. It turns out that she is the beauty gracing my cover! HOW COOL IS THAT? I was always hoping that she would find me and since I have pretty much pimped her face out all over the Net I guess it was just a matter of time, but I couldn't get over how cool it was that we found each other!

See, I told you I wasn't high maintainence! So what little things give you a daily buzz?

What I'm reading...just printed off Rush: A Sisterhood Novel by Marley Gibson...I can't wait to start!
xo,
Steph
All that matters is what's inside...as long as your outside is wearing the tiara!

OMG, your cover girl contacted you? That's fabulous! (Although if I ever announce that mine contacted me, please call the men in white coats. :))

Here are the things that make me buzz: playing with my cat; happy moments in my kids' lives, from doing well on a test to a fun outing invite; discovering my gas tank on full; someone else making dinner; and hearing a great song on the radio I hadn't heard in ages.

Plus, yesterday I discovered 2 new and wonderful reviews of my book on the internet, and that got me buzzing higher than a venti latte!

Hah! that was an awesome post. I can't believe your cover girl found you on myspace. That's kind of awesome.

Sorry to hear about your toilet seat woes. That's yucky!
And fake tanning is the bomb--as long as you can avoid the streaks.

Also, you should read my latest post because it's all about Disturbia and how I'm going to MARRY Shia LeBeouf! That's right. Sorry, Steph, but he's MINE!! ;)

Poor Alex, she's so "disturbed". If you want to read how I set her straight about MY man, go here

How cool is that about the cover girl, Steph?

I loved the froggie necklace -- very, very cool.

I'm with Alex on the tanner. Last year I had to use a ton because my summer "day" job gave me a farmer's tan. The stuff works pretty well if you avoid the streaks, which are, well, hard to avoid.

I did like the Jergens daily glow lotion, though. That's an everyday use one that doesn't change you overnight, so there isn't a chance for streaks really.
God, I think I just wrote a commercial... Sorry. You should try it, though.

Hugs!

Tina's covergirl looks like a vintage Barbie. I love that. I was in B&N today and they had our books on an end cap. It was cool.

What makes me buzz: raspberry mochas, tail-chasing puppies, peaceful evenings, ballet flats and flirty skirts. Oh, and Daniel Craig.

Steph's post raises a question, though: If you could cast a movie of your book, with any actors from any time, who would play your characters?

I CANNOT believe the girl on the cover contacted you! that is just about the coolest thing! She is REALLY pretty.

My cousin has a rule in her house: one toilet is designated for going pee and the other is for the other stuff. That way everyone knows which is the bathroom they can stink up.

I'm also lazy and love the spray on tan lotion.

I also am in love with TIVO!

Hey, Rosemary, good to know we were on end caps! I've been in dozens of bookstores lately, and have been seeing your book everywhere--even once by the cash register under "New Bestsellers"!

You are TOO funny!
I guess I can't argue with that kind of logic.
But you know you're LOCO, right? ;)
There seems to be a lot of Shia competition, maybe I'll have to set my sights elsewhere (not those yucky twin boys though! eeew!!!)

Steph, ditto what everyone said about how cool it is that your cover model contacted you. Maybe you should retract your comment about models--it could be just frogs in general. =)

And, while I can't really relate to the toilet seat thing, I'm so on board with spray sunscreen and movie afternoons.

Hugs,
TLC

I really love this site. Hmmm, these are things that make me buzz:
meeting cool local authors like Simone when I was just out doing my normal book shopping, finding a whole new world of info and entertainment like this when I least expected it, the thought of entering my first writing contest (someday) and getting published, having a great book in hand at all times and finishing in 3-4 days because you can't put it down, and writing in my journal at the botanical gardens in the mornings before I start another day at the office. Plus it's nice when a fellow book-lover says "you should be a writer"!
