Today, I am going to be talking about something from my 2009 release, The ABC’s of Kissing Boys, and giving away a signed copy to one commenter.
The premise of the book is that 16 year-old Parker is taking “kissing lessons” from 15 year-old Tristan so that she will be prepared to do her best at the sports fair kissing booth later that month. Among the kisses that he is teaching her is one called The Steam Kiss, which I read about on-line and thought sounded like a lot of fun.
One partner sips some piping hot water while the other drinks some icy cold.
They quickly kiss, then pull back and check the air between them for steam.
Now, I had every intention of trying it out with my husband to see exactly how it worked, but time got away from me. Suddenly, I was writing that scene, he was at work...I was stuck. Then I realized the thing to do was to have the kissing experiment rushed and therefore inconclusively fail. So it wasn’t a true answer, just something they swear they’re going to “get back to.”
To this day, I haven’t tried it and don’t know if it works or not.
So here’s the “rules” for entering my contest. Either try The Steam Kiss and give us your report in our comments--or simply write down your best guess of whether or not it will work. It's that easy.
Good luck, and check Wendy Toliver’s blog on Sunday for the name of the randomly chosen winner!

I definitely think it would have to be REALLY extreme temperature differences. Very hot water and Very, icy cold water!
I think it will be very difficult to work, but not impossible. Anyway, the fun is on trying, right? xD
I don't have anyone to try it with. :p But I think it's so crazy, it might actually work. :)
Since I'm currently unattached and don't want to make out with any of my guy friends, I'll say that I don't think it would work. Since the temperatures of your mouths are relatively the same and will stay constant for the most part, I don't think it would create steam. But you never know! We should call the guys from Big Bang Theory and see what they say!
In the interest of important research, we got it to work... but one person had to have ICE in their mouth, and the other had to drink VERY hot water. :)
Hm...I'm thinking it won't work, that the warmth of the cold water person's mouth would dilute the extremely cold temperature
Well we gave it a go but methinks the water wasn't quite hot enough. Fun though :).
x
I'm going to try this later and get back to you. If nothing else, it'll be fun!
There is no reason why it wouldn't work. It would just have to be timed well.
I don't think that it will work because the person who has to drink the piping hot water will probably burn their mouth before they even get to the kiss part. If they did get to the kissing part, then I doubt it would be enjoyable because they will have a very uncomfortable mouth. Plus, who says the two people will want to pull away quickly?? *lolz* However, there is a slight chance that if both people cooperate exactly how they are supposed to (which is highly unlikely) then there is a very small chance that it might possibly work. Although, I have no one to try it with, not that if I did, I would even want to try it because it seems very bizarre.
The Steam Kiss is awesome! = )
My guess, it won't work, coz both lips are warm :)
well, i might want to try it with my DH if he's not that busy with the training *g*
Hmmm..sounds fun. Any excuse to kiss is a good one! ;)
Cold lips and hot lips (temperature wise) mixing together creates a shocking effect. The steam... not really. It was steamy, but not in the way you're looking for! xD
Thanks everyone, I am loving all these responses, whether based on experience or guesses! With special thanks to ~Jamie, CarlyB and our own Marley for trying it out! But the results are mixed, and this contest is open 'til Saturday night, so please keep weighing in!
I think it is possilbe for it to work if it is extremly warm water. Possibly french kissing might help it work. Unfortunitly I cant try this out but it does sound fun.
Wow, I'm not sure that it would work, Tina -- maybe if it was also a really cold day outside, too? Anyway, sounds fun to try.
xo,
Heath
It sounds really sexy! I think it work work!
I could see it working if the water is the right temperature.
