For me, the number one scent of summer, going all the way back to my earliest? Chlorine!
Followed by the sun tanning lotion that I used as a kid--no, not sunblock, back then we were TRYING to burn!
On a more recent note, this scent makes me think of the beach in Italy:
Vendors carry around peeled chunks in ice chests calling out, "Coca Bella!" which I imagine to mean "Pretty Coconut!" In any case, I'm a total goner for it whenever I'm there, so it has a strong summer association for me now.

Mmm... coconut! That's a good summer smell!
I also love the smell of the breeze in Hawaii. Hiking up a hill to a waterfall on Oahu you get to a red dirt cliff and catch jasmine and other tropical deliciousness on the breeze.
And, love the smell of lawns being mowed in the afternoon. Always reminds me of hanging around in the backyard as a kid.
Summer! Yay! (It's finally here in the NW, by the way.)
The beach smells both like summer and home. It is a combo of sunscreen, pina colodas (which I don't actually drink, it is just what my after sun lotion smells like), sand, and strong ocean. Love it, wish I could bottle it for year round enjoyment.
With so many here and on my Facebook page mentioning pina colada/coconut as a summer smell, makes me wonder if there's a shampoo or body wash we could use year round?
I just bought an amazing lotion called Aloha Colada from Philosophy the other day. It smells like summer. :)

And crickets. I know they don't smell, but they remind me of summer.
