Be Heard

It's election day (finally!) and it's time to get out the vote. This is the only time when we the people get a direct say in the running of our country. (Lord knows no one listens to us the rest of the year.) Whether you're voting left, right, or sideways, if you're of age and registered get thee to a polling place, do your time in line, and cast your ballot.

And in case my whole “civic responsibility” thing doesn't do it for you, maybe one of these quotes will inspire you.

“Bad officials are elected by good citizens who do not vote.”
~ George Jean Nathan

“Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost.”
~ John Quincy Adams

“The ballot is stronger than the bullet.”
~ Abraham Lincoln

“The freeman casting, with unpurchased hand, The vote that shakes the turrets of the land.”
~ Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.

“The margin is narrow, but the responsibility is clear.”
~ John F. Kennedy

“Half of the American people never read a newspaper. Half never voted for President. One hopes it is the same half.”
~ Gore Vidal

“Suffrage is the pivotal right.”
~ Susan B. Anthony

“One who does not vote has no right to complain.”
~ Louis L'Amour

So after you've done your civic duty, come back and let me know that you've voted. Not who you've voted for--I'm not that nosy. Just let me know that you earned your "I VOTED" sticker.

Also,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM!
(She's really hard to shop for because she only wants one thing, and I'll have to watch election coverage all night to see if she's gonna get it.)

Hugs,
TLC

Hooray Marley and Alyson! And what could be better than getting a say in the political process *and* free coffee?

I was at the pol at 6:50 AM and was #150 in line. When I actually got to the door, there 30 people behind me, and when I walked out of the polling place at 7:45 there was about 100 people inside the building. An old timer told me that this was the first time in his life that he had to stand in line to vote in our little town.

I haven't voted yet, but wanted to jump in and say Ben & Jerry's is offering free ice cream those who vote, as well. (See details, some restrictions may apply.)

Be back with my sticker soon!

Omigosh, free coffee *and* ice cream?!? I could die of happiness. Yay Chuck for sticking it out in line and hurry up with that sticker, Tina. (Although my precinct didn't give out stickers. I was very bummed.)

I'm back with my sticker! And I've now heard Krispy Kreme stores are giving away free donuts to voters as well...again, double-check that fact before rushing out...

I'm so psyched that so many people are getting out to vote today. I can't wait to find out how many actually do. I think the number is going to be astounding! And why, oh why, can't I live near a Ben & Jerry's? Sigh.

Happy Birthday Tera's Mom!!!! ;)

I voted by mail like 2 or 3 weeks ago! So, I have an "I voted early" sticker, but I like to collect them, and have it on a folder on my door.

I'm just glad that today is election day, because then all the ads will be going away!

P.S. Happy Birthday, Tera's Mom!
