Island Girl!

Celebrating the release of Fins are Forever by our own Tera Lynn Childs, we are talking this week about favorite water memories.

Mine goes back more than ten years, to a vacation in the Bahamas. While the resort beachfront and water slide pool were a big hit with me, my husband and our kids, what was most memorable was our day trip to Blue Lagoon Island, which offers tranquil beaches, opportunities to play with dolphins and swim in a lagoon.

We came and went by ferry, with the outbound trip being mostly about sightseeing. The return voyage featured dancing to a reggae band and a limbo contest, both of which I enthusiastically joined in (and yes, somewhere in our family archives, there is a video).

On the island, we opted out of the dolphin encounter (saving it for next time), but took full opportunity of the paddle boats, hammocks, beachcoming, and simply relaxing in the soft sand of shallow lagoon. Heavenly!

So while a case could be made that this island is touristy and commercial, I’d still say if any of you find yourselves in Nassau, add this to your itinerary. And what better book to read as you lay about in paradise than one about a mermaid?

To be entered in our weeklong contest here at the Buzz Girls Blog, name a favorite water spot you visited (ocean, lake, river, pool). Three lucky people will chosen from the week's long comments to each win a “Fin Set,” (Forgive My Fins paperback, with cool extras in the back, and Fins Are Forever hardcover). Good luck!

I love all water, everywhere. But my favorite spot has to be any beach in Hawaii.

I really love any pools, but my favorite is probably the in-ground pool at our family friend's house. It's so beautiful because there's a rock waterfall thingy at one end. It's really big and just beautiful. I don't really like swimming in oceans, lakes, salty water, etc., but I like looking at it from the sand where I tan. Haha! Sorry this isn't quite as exciting as some exotic location, but it;s good enough for me. :)

My favorite times in the water were in grade school, swimming in the local pool with my friend, working out elaborate mermaid stories and playing the characters while splashing around...

I'd have to say that my favorite water spot is Ocean City, Maryland. We went a week before the season started, so it was quiet and not crowded and we pretty much had the beach to ourselves...except for the hot guys running on the sand XD

Is there a puddle on the floor? Because I think I drooled.

Sorry, what? You asked what my favorite spot was? Well then, that would be the beach. I live about 30 mi from the coast, so pick a beach and I love it!

When I was little, we used to go to a lake on the outskirts of town, all the time, and that was a favorite water spot. :)

My favorite water spot is the beach at Wildwood, NJ. My family and I usually go every summer. It's wonderful. I'd like to live there.

My favorite water spot (it's hard to choose just one) would be in Aruba or the pool where I live,or my parents vacation home in Sussex has a lake which is so nice. I boat on it sometimes.

That sounds like an awesome trip - the dolphin encounter would be amazing! Though hammocks and paddle boats sounds pretty much just as awesome as well.

My favorite water spot is usually whatever water I'm in at the time! I guess my true all time favorite though is the ocean off the coast of South Carolina for the simple fact that it is home.
