New Crush... Heroes & Hiro

So, can I just tell you my new crush is Hiro on the amazing show Heroes?

If you haven't yet seen this Monday night show... you have to check it out. Basically the show follows the individual threads of different people who are the next step in evolution -- they all have cool powers. Of course, there is an X-Files type shadowy government group following them and a guy out to steal all their powers. Very, very cool and smart show.

Hiro is this adorable Japanese guy who can stop and manipulate time. In fact, in a recent episode, he tried to save a girl he loved by going back in time to prevent her from a tragedy. Super romantic, that Hiro.

I guess what I love so much about the show is that they have created such interesting characters. It's not that hard to understand the show if you just watch a random episode -- my mom did this and then phoned me with endless questions -- but you can also download a show from the NBC website.

Anyway, I have a new criterion for dates -- they have to like Heroes. I'm not saying they have to be a hero -- but they should understand if I say I've got to get home to watch the show. Does that sound as uber-geeky as I think it does? Wait, don't answer that, people.

So, is anyone else hooked on Heroes?

A friend has been talking to me about that show, Heather, but I've missed the beginning. Any idea if they're going to re-run the opening?

As far as dating, maybe it's a good thing this show is on Monday nights and not Saturdays, huh? :)

I really wish that I had started watching this show b/c it looks really good. But I don't want to come in on in the middle so I'll wait for it on DVD. The cheerleader, Hayden P??, is exactly who I pictured as the mc in REVENGE OF THE HOMECOMING QUEEN. Until I got my cover and they went with a brunette that is. She's a doll! I'm dying to know what all that save the cheerleader business is but don't tell me.
I'm totally loving The Class this season. I just wish it was on for an hour.

My dh and son are super hooked. But I already have to stay up late for LOST and Greys Anatomy and if I stay up that late another night I will self destruct. I am one of those who NEEDS eight hours of sleep and since I get up at 5:30...

I will have to wait for the first season DVD to come out.

I love this show so much. Almost as much as I love your blog. I found you from MySpace and I've been reading every day since. You guys seem to have this bond and really support each other and I think that's pretty cool. I'd love to hear more about how each of you got on your road to publication or writing. I'm 19 and have half a novel written but you encourage me to keep going.

Yay, Amanda! I am so impressed that you're that far along in your novel at age 19. WTG!

I think it's amazing that you already know you were born to write. :) I know it took me many years to see that my whole life long, the thing that I constantly did was tell stories. In fact, my dad recently told me that on the way home from kindergarten everyday, I used to recount every tiny detail that happened during the day -- he couldn't shut me up because I had so many stories to tell!

Just keep going and keep believing in yourself. Belief is the one thing that you control, you know? So keep writing that novel. You can totally do it!!!

Hey, Amanda, thanks so much for introducing yourself and telling us about your novel-in-progress.

I'm one of those people who started writing very young, but at 19, I do believe I did more talking about writing than actually putting pen to paper. So give yourself a pat on the back for being so disciplined already, for knowing your dream and not being afraid to pursue it.

And I'm delighted that this blog inspires you. Yes, we're a supportive group, but it's people like you reading us and joining us that's going to make us even stronger.

Looking forward to "seeing" you again soon,

Tina

Yes. Hooked on Heroes. Loving Peter (cuz he digs African-American chicks). Hating Peter's brother. Tripping out over Nicole and her violent alter ego. Starting to take a serious shine to Mohinder. It's gotta be the accent (and the actor who plays him is quite handsome, BTW).

Monday's episode was totally faboo. You actually got to see Sylar--who really wasn't Sylar to begin with. From the first moment I saw the trailers for it, I wanted to see it. I'm a huge fan of X-men and that's what it kinda reminded me of. X-men on the DL, that is.

Loving the show. Hope it gets picked up again for another season. They have to find more special people, right?

Tina - If you get the Sci-Fi channel, they've been re-running the episodes. From the very beginning. But it was a marathon, so I don't know if they'll be doing it again.

So, hey, if you like this show, then you might like Kyle XY.

Thanks for the head's up on the re-runs, Gemini!

Welcome Amanda! Great that you found us and I hope you stay around. Congrats on your writing progress and as the other BuzzGirls say, keep at it! That's the key...persistence and tenacity. I started writing when I was about 15...so if you've been bitten by the bug, don't look for a cure except for writing. = )

Wow, Amanda! I'm so impressed that you are so young and have already almost finished a novel. I didn't start writing until I was 29 (I know, that's like super-old). Keep writing, you'll only get better. And you're right, we Buzz Girls do have a bond, all of our personalities and love of books just seems to mesh together just right! Thanks for reading! :)

Amanda,

Glad you found us! I seriously think all seven of us are amazing people as well as writers and I feel very lucky to be a part of this group!

The first book I sold is the third book I wrote. It took me years to find an agent who liked my writing, and she sold my book within two months. I'd say to submit your work to a few agents and see what happens! Absolutely keep us posted!
