Who do you want to meet today?

Today my writing pal Christina and I met at our local cine to check out STRANGER THAN FICTION. It was a cute story of a writer whose main character is alive in the real world. A moment that really spoke to me was then the main character (HAROLD CRICK) and the writer (KAREN EIFFEL) met face to face for the first time.

Karen dropped to her knees and stared at Harold. "Your face! Your hands! Your shoes!" Her expression was of a proud mother. A flabbergasted and scared one, but of a mother who had birthed a character and was seeing it for the first time.

That got me thinking...what would I do if I ever met one of my characters. In my current WIP, Zara Taylor is totally kick-ass, bad-ass and has no shame. If I ever met met, I would make her buy me a drink and figure out some of her secrets. She would try to get me to down a Singapore Sling (brandy, gin and powdered sugar, her drink of choice) but I would protest and settle for my usual Mai Tai.

I would ask her about how she managed to live on her own from the age of 16, be competent in the fields of car mechanic, bartender, and cigar connoseur, and most importnatly, how she managed to extort a 2007 electric blue Dodge Viper from a married man ;)

So....if you guys could meet any of your characters...or characters in other books you love, who would you meet?

I would want to meet Avi from How to Ruin a Summer Vacation. Besides being totally hot, I'd like to know what it's like being a commando in the Israeli army.

I would want to meet Rascal from TOP TEN USES FROM AN UNWORN PROM DRESS. He's the guy who dumps her before the prom--not the hero, who I admit I have a crush on, as well--and he's got that "charming user" thing going on that I find so attractive. He is sort of laughing at himself while getting away with murder. And oddly (LOL), I think he looks a lot like Brad Pitt in that "before" post from my blog yesterday...

Aspen Brooks is the MC in my forthcoming novel, REVENGE OF THE HOMECOMING QUEEN. I love her. She's such a spoiled little beyotch, but she still has a good heart. I feel like I owe her so much for finally making my publishing dreams come true. I'd give her a big hug then she'd shove me off so I didn't wrinkle her. Awesome post!

The character I always want to meet is the main character of whatever my current WIP is :) No seriously--I'd like to shake some sense into them and be able to interview them with more than my head to talk back to. In terms of other books though, it has changed over the years--as a young teen I always wanted to meet the Babysitter's Club girls and Judy Blume's heroines--I wanted to hang out with them. Then before I got married, there was a whole slew of amazing male heroes I would have paid good money . . . .Now it's back to being the heroines I'd like to hang with--the heroes are always WAY too tempting :)

WavyBrain: I hear ya! Hanging out with the heroes of my favorite novels would get me in a whole lotta trouble!

Simone: I wouldn't mind meeting Avi myself...at the beginning of the book I wasn't a big fan, but by the end...ooh, he is one dreamy teenager!

Tina: Ahhh, the bad boy who doesn't know what else to be...love it!
Can't wait for you PROM DRESS to come out so I can meet him myself :)

Steph: Aspen? What an AMAZING name! I can totally see the character already!

I had a great time at the movie with you, Dona! Funny how we kept snickering to each other whenever something "writer-related" resonated with us. :-) If I were to meet any of my characters, I think I'd mainly want to meet my heroes. After all, there's too much of my own personality in all of my heroines to have TWO of us in the same place at the same time. That would just be downright scary! LOL!

Hey Christina!! (waving profusely)

Well, see...to me, all of my characters are already real, so I feel like I already know them all.

But, I would like to meet my three heroines of my sorority girl series. Mainly because they are all a little bit of me at different stages of my life -- only with better clothes, better hair, scholarships, better bodies. LOL!!! The firls are just so real to me that I can already see them and feel them. I hope my readers feel the same way.

I would love to meet Poe, from my teen series, DRAVEN ATREIDES, TEENAGE FBI. She's one of my MC's best friends and utterly wild and fearless. She says and does whatever she wants and flips a finger at conformity. She doesn't care what society thinks...only what her friends think.

When I created her, I was picturing A.J. Langer, the actress who portrayed Rayanne Graff in the show "My So-Called Life". I've always thought it would be cool to have a friend like that.

Good question, Dona...

I would want to meet the Vampire Lestat -- the real one, not Tom Cruise, although Stuart Townsend is pretty hot -- keeping my distance of course...

Also, I would want to meet my hero Austin from my book Never Cry Werewolf. He's an Orlando/Heath hybrid (in addition to the lycan blood) who is so loyal and true he melted my heart...
