Kids Incorporated

Some of you may be too young to remember this show (if you are, please keep it to yourself--you're making me feel old), but back in the 80s this was one of my favorites. It basically featured kids my age (at the time) singing cover versions of top pop hits. Here's the theme song.

Although not quite as star-studded as the Mickey Mouse Club, Kids Incorporated can claim to have launched Stacy Ferguson (aka Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas) and Jennifer Love Hewitt (aka the Ghost Whisperer). Here are a couple of my favorite Kids Inc videos. Enjoy the retro 80s flashback.

This is Stacy (Fergie) singing the Lionel Ritchie hit Say You, Say Me. (No, I don't get the clown either.)

How about the show's yummy Ryan Lambert signing Bon Jovi's Living on a Prayer? I love this one.

Rahsaan Patterson covering Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' by Michael Jackson.

And, finally, Martika Marrero signing Patty Smyth's the Warrior. (In my opinion, Martika had the best voice of anyone on the show.)

Wanna see more? Check out tons of their videos on the Kids Incorporated YouTube channel. Now, be honest. What do you think? Cheesy or awesome or a little of both?

Hugs,
TLC

wow! That got my laugh of the day in! It is both awesome and a little cheesy. The outfits on the theme song might be the most amazing things I've ever seen.

I *loved* this show!! I remember the later episodes (I was born in '82). I had *such* a crush on that Ryan dude. (Didn't even know his name . . . but he was hot!)

I think it's a happy mix of cheese and awesome. Face it . . . we could all use more cheesiness in our lives. Every movie should have a song and dance break!

A little of both I think. How they dress is a bit funny to me but they all sound really really good. Fergie looks different in Say you say me vid, I could barely tell it was her.

Thanks for sharing Tera ^^

I used to watch that show in the early 90s. I loved it! I can barely remember watching it, because I was born in 87, but I for sure remember the end of the opening sequence.

COOL program! I loved (and secretly still love to watch) this kind of shows when I was a kid in the 80's, we had a few shows like this also here in Holland, here it was called MiniStars. Famous pop songs with another lyric performed by kids!
here''s the link of the youtube MiniStars channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/Starsminime

I didn't watch it, but I remember it. And that girl Martika? She went on to be a one-hit wonder. She had this really cool song out in the 80's called "Toy Soldiers". A shame she had to sing a really great song in powder blue overalls with a heart on the bib! For real?

And I've seen that Ryan Lambert dude in something else, too. Maybe some teenybopper movie or something? Don't remember, but he looks familiar.
