Soundtrack of your summer

I have a very vivid memory of cruising the aisles of a new Wal-Mart in the summer of 1984. The song playing was "Heart & Soul" by a band named T'Pau. Click here if you have no idea who the heck I'm talking about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwrYMWoqg5w
Isn't it funny how our summers seem to get defined by a certain song? In 1991, it was Bryan Adams tearjerking ballad, "Everything I Do, I Do It For You." Certain songs just seem to open a floodgate of memories. I bawled my eyes out to Leann Rimes, "How do I live," in 1997 when my boyfriend broke up with me. I danced to Aerosmith's "I Don't Want To Miss a Thing" in 1998 at my wedding with that same guy!
I'm a little torn about the songs this summer. I haven't heard a good slow song yet. I don't know what the heck a disco stick is, why shortie's burning up on the dance floor, I don't like being told to shut my lips, and how do I know I want you if I can't understand half the words you are saying? My four-year-old loves "Boom, Boom, Pow" by the Black-Eyed Peas and rocks out every time it comes on. I guess that'll have to do for the summer of 2009!
What's the soundtrack of your summer?

My kids bought me an iPod for my birthday, and I've been busy filling it with old favorites. So for me it's more the "classics." Like Every Breath You Take and Roxane!

OMG! My four year old LOVES Boom Boom Pow! She cracks us up!

Apparently the Black Eyed Peas have tapped into the preschool market. :)

Ooh, I remember that T'Pau song! Loved it.

To me, Bananarama's "Cruel Summer" always brings back one particular summer... The song is actually about missing someone, but to me it's about the heat! Cruel summer, indeed...

As for this summer...I'm not into anything yet! Boom Boom Pow just doesn't do it for me... :-)
