Happy Valentine's Day!
He hasn't been on the radar much lately, but when you think of VALentine's Day, how can you not think of VAL? I mean, his name is VAL! (Okay, I'm stretching... but you know what I mean.) Over the years he has starred in so many of my favorite movies. He was a star right from the start, kicking off his movie career with Top Secret! and Real Genius--both totally hilarious and so not how you think of VAL now. Then there was Willow, The Doors, and Thunderheart--a truly fab movie if you haven't seen it! He starred with Kim Basinger in one of my all time fave movies, The Real McCoy. He plays a kinda loser thief who's totally in love with Kim and trying to help her get her kid back. Adorable!
More hit-after-hit with Tombstone, Batman Forever, Heat, and The Island of Dr. Moreau. (Ha, just seeing if you're paying attention--that last one was an awful movie!) VAL starred in The Saint, as the emotionally burdened, Alpha male with a billion identities and a soft spot for Elisabeth Shue. His fame has kind of tapered off, but he's still making movies. (And, if the gossip mags are right, he's put on quite a few pounds and won't be fitting back into that Batman costume any time soon...) But I think one of my fave roles VAL has played--the yummiest bad guy of them all--is Iceman in Top Gun. Who can resist a guy who knows he's the best and shows it?

I hate to admit, he never really did it for me. I think it was because he came off as such a cocky a** all the time. My fav of his was probably The Saint, just b/c I love Elisabeth Shue. I also liked that movie where he was blind with that girl...hmmmm....
Happy Valentine's Day!

Ooh, I love guys with an attitude, and LOVE Val Kilmer! He was in Top Secret and my cousin's uncle was the director (Jim Abrams). So my cousin got to be an extra in Top Secret. Val signed a picture of himself saying, LISA, LOVE YA! VAL KILMER. She cherished that picture, and had it hung up in her locker all four years of high school.
Needless to say, I was very jealous.

Steph,
I didn't like Elizabeth Shue because she was the love interest for Ralph Macchio in The Karate Kid.
Don't ask...

I'm sort of on the fence about Val...liked him in some movies, not in others. But I always appreciate looking at him, so thanks for making him a Hump Day Hottie!
My three fav movies of his, in this order:
~ Top Secret! (Laffed so much and loved the fact that it was actually him singing)
~ Batman Forever ("The Bat Signal is not a beeper."). His lips were perfectly showcased in that hooded cowl. It was my fav of all the Batman movies.
~ The Saint. Loved all the disguises. It was like watching the male version of Sidney Bristow.
Thanks for finally bringing back Hump Day Hottie. I was going thru withdrawal.
Best, by far, Val Kilmer performance was as Jim Morrison in THE DOORS. He was channeling him or something. Truly amazing. Still shocked even today that he didn't get the Oscar for that!
Marley = )

Oh, I forgot about The Saint! Loved it and he was almost as hot as Ice Man, too.
I always did like Val Kilmer. The Saint -- totally hot.
Hugs!
