Top Ten Places to Meet Cute Guys

Moving along with our Boys Theme, I thought it would be fun to put together a list of places to meet them--besides the obvious places (work, school, nightclubs/bars and dances). So I did some checking around with “experts”, and here’s what I came up with, in no particular order:

Your high school track, during off-hours

Guys of all ages run their local high school track in the evenings and on weekends to keep in shape.

Ski Resorts

Whether on the lift, the slope or in the lodge, ski resorts are happening places. And in California, I can give you a tip that our resorts are often manned by cute Australian skiers who come over here to work during what is their summer months.

Internet Café

It’s a great place to meet guys who are on vacation and checking their e-mails.

Water Sports Rental Shops

Ever notice how hot the guys are who man the jet skis, canoe and kayak rental shops? Some of the renters are something to look at, too.

Gaming Store

With a warning here from an 18 year-old male gamer that these stores are magnets for outta shape guys with no social skills, I am still recommending a walk by your local gaming store to see what’s happening. Because every rule is meant to be broken.

Coffeehouse

Stopping by a Starbucks or your local equivalent isn’t exactly a novel idea, but for a spin, try it late at night for different clientele.

A Family or Neighborhood Party

Don’t overlook the obvious, that sometimes a totally boring and predictable family or neighborhood party can surprise you. Remember Mark Darcy from the Bridget Jones movies (shown here in one of his “Christmas jumpers” from one of those family parties).

Charity events

People from all walks of life come together for charity events. Consider volunteering or attending a local walk-a-thon, trash pick-up, food drive, YMCA pancake breakfast, etc.

MySpace

Okay, I’m a married lady, and my site is to meet readers and authors and to generally procrastinate. But single girls tell me other stories!

Public transportation

Planes, trains, buses, subways, taxis. Keep your eyes open--you never know.

(Haha, okay, the picture's a bit dated, but anyone who has seen A HARD DAY'S NIGHT know these four cute guys thrilled girls at every train stop.)

Anyway, just some ideas. And if you’ve met a cute guy in an unusual place, please share with us!

One place and maybe it's too obvious, but how about work? Whether it's an afterschool job or a summer internship, this is always a great place to meet cute guys. Especially if you pick a guy-friendly field like bowling alleys, sports stores, etc during HS and a tech company after graduation. I met my husband in the Intel parking lot back in 2001 :)

Meeting guys in a publishing house or the local Forever 21? Not so much...

I loved that picture of the FAB 4. My sister met her first husband through a roommate, her second through work, her third Country Dancing. And she'd probably kill me if she knew I was posting this. I guess you can meet guys just about anywhere.

How about at the dog park?

Great post.

Steph, weddings--great idea!

Kelly, football players on the other team...my, you were a bold one, huh? :)

Dona, work is great! In fact, I met my husband when he came in to my place of business for an interview!

Janie, a dog park is another cool idea!

And Marley, let us know how your nieces like these ideas!

Thanks, all!

What a totally fab list! (I'm taking notes!) What about a laundromat? (Cute guys who actually clean their clothes!) Bookstores? Grocery stores? At the local Whole Foods there are always loads of cute, socially conscious guys. =)

Okay, *scribbling furiously* I'm taking notes, Tina! These are great ideas. LOL

I met my ex through a friend. Friends always seem to know cute single boys, you know?

Another great place I thought of is where you'd be volunteering for the community? Maybe Habitat for Humanity or doing a fun run or something like that to benefit a good cause? That way you know he cares about the world. That's pretty damn hot.

I totally second the "ski resort" one. Guys look so hot in their ski/boarding stuff and can riding a lift up with some mysterious hottie be any more romantic?

Fun post, Tina.

I'm behind on posting here guys, but I just have to say...

Thanks for posting such a hot pic of my future husband, Colin! You know, when having two husbands becomes legal, I am definitely going to be set.

Tina, I love this post!

One of my high school boyfriends I met at a coed sweet sixteen party. I dated him for a year.

Another guy I dated I met at Ed Debevic's in downtown Chicago. Ever been there?

You forgot one that every camper and camp counselor knows...summer camp! For some reason hot guys sign up to be camp counselors. Lots of fraternizing at free time! (and when you're a camper, guys from the other groups are a great distraction!)

TLC, Heather and Simone--some great new ideas, thanks!

Wendy, your comment reminded me of an embarrassing moment from my teens. My friend and I took what we thought were covert pictures of cute guys behind us on the chair lift. After we got them developed, we saw they were waving! :)

Jen, I couldn't agree with you more about Colin. I see ALL his movies...

Thanks, everyone!

Cute post, Tina!

I had to cross the Atlantic to meet my hubby...I was living in Italy when we met. So how about a semester abroad? Or a vacation? An American friend of mine met her Australian husband on the ferry from Italy to Greece. Another couple I know met while living in Japan, and their hometowns are 45 minutes apart from each other in...Iowa!

Bon voyage!
