Who Would You Rather Be?

It’s one of our “free weeks” here at the Buzz Girls Blog, and following seven rich and lengthier-than-usual interview posts (which were great fun, so if you haven’t checked them out yet, do scroll down), I thought I’d offer up something short and sweet today.

Recently, I saw a poll that asked which I’d rather be:

--the most beautiful person in the world
--the richest person in the world
--the smartest person in the world.

And while most beautiful was definitely not my gut reaction, I realized I’d rather not be the richest (nothing left to shoot for) or smartest (I’d think it’d be frustrating and lonely). So I went with most beautiful by default. In fact, when I checked the votes on that website, the majority agreed with me.

So now I turn it to you: most beautiful, richest or smartest? What say you...and why?

I'd have to go with the richest...simply because by being the richest, then I could travel where ever I want, live where ever I want, lavish my friends and family with gifts, donate a huge chunk to animal charities, pay off people's bills if they needed the help, send my nieces to college, send your nieces to college...LOL...just all sorts of wonderful things you could do with a lot of money. And sure, I'd have some really cool, expensive shoes and maybe finally get those diamond earrings...but just thinking of all the GOOD I could do with a lot of money, that would be way cool!

I'm with Marley (for less philanthropic reasons, though). If I was the richest person in the world I could: a) divide my time between New York, LA, Miami, and the rest of the world (first person research for all future books), b) afford to hire a team of personal trainers and aestheticians (to take care of the most beautiful part), and (now that I'm feeling guilty) c) spread the love with the Sierra Club, the Heifer Project, and Doctors Without Borders.

I'd rather be the smartest--if I were, I could think up a way to then be the most beautiful AND the richest in the world. Mwaaaaahahahahahahahaha...

Hi Tina,
This is tough. I think I'd like to be the richest. Then I could become the most beautiful (working with what God gave me, of course) and donate money to help educate the world.

Okay, you guys are putting me to shame with your selfless philantropy and quick wit. Is this a good time to remind everyone that I'm recovering from the flu? :)

I'm with you, Tina. I'd pick beauty. Not out of vain, but b/c in our society beauty opens doors. I wouldn't need to be rich to get what I wanted b/c my beauty would do it for me. And I'm with you about the smartest person being very lonely.

I think I'd go with smartest, because then I'd devise a cool plan to become rich. I think being the most beautiful would get you stalked by the paps. ;)

Good points, Steph, about our society and beauty.

Kelly, great how you worked out smart + rich.

In fact, for a fun little holiday poll, all these answers have been very insightful!

Smart cause then I could figure out a way to be rich and then I could buy me some beauty:)

I would say rich and smart. Because I created a publishing company bigger than any of the Big 5 combined and that made me rich. LOL.

This is a hard one. I guess I would go with richest, too -- because you could do so much with the money to help out. And often, I've observed that really beautiful people are really lonely. If you are the smartest person in the world though, you would totally end up the richest... so I guess I don't know which I'd pick.

Ooo! Good question. Let's see ... I think I'd have to go with richest, but I'd rather no one knew I was that rich. I'd like to do a lot of covert "good deeds" to help people all over the world improve their lives.

I'd go for richest. I wouldn't be it for long, though; I'd donate the money. I don't understand why actual rich people don't do that.
