It's Showtime!

Sorry for the late blogging today. Long day at work and had to take the train home. UGH!

So, I spent yesterday holed up on the couch with the cable OnDemand watching Showtime's new series, The Tudors. All I can say is...wow. There's a lot of buzz on this series that will premiere on April 1st. Here's a preview of what you have to look forward to...

Yummy little Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who most people know from Bend it Like Beckham or TV's Elvis, for which he earned a Golden Globe, but I've been a fan of since Velvet Goldmine.

The buzz about this series is it features the young, virile, studly Henry VIII and not the fat, beaded guy who ate whole turkey legs that we see in so many portraits of the time. The first two episodes really showcase Henry's tenacity to be remembered after he's gone...to go down in history as someone famous who left a mark on humanity. He also had a voracious appetite for the ladies.

Check out the Showtime website for details, history, bios and everything about the show. It's really quality television. They've really done a great job promoting it.

What other TV shows do you plan to check out in the spring/summer as replacements are coming on? I admit, I'm watching the same favorites: America's Next Top Model, Everybody Hates Chris, Grey's Anatomy, Ugly Betty and a new favorite with one of my favorite people, Eddie Izzard, The Riches.

Let us hear what you're watching!

I just saw the ad for this yesterday and I forgot to watch it! It looks great! And thank you so much for mentioning Elvis b/c I couldn't place where I had seen this guy before! He's dreamy!
I have also been watching The Riches, which is really different than what I expected, but good. Eddie Izzard is the PERFECT person to play that part, he's awesome!
I plan to start watching Entourage again which starts on 4/8 and probably The Soprano's, even though I'm not feeling it, I can't stand not to know what happens in the last season. I'm trying hard not to get hooked on anything else so maybe I'll get some writing done!
xo,

Yes, I'm excited about this show, too! When I think of Jonathan Rhys Meyers, I think of MATCH POINT, which I've already seen twice, and plan to many more times. As far as this spring, well, I'm a LOST devotee, and I like DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and UGLY BETTY a lot, plus numerous "last seasons" through Netflix.

I watched the first two eps on Showtime.com. MOST impressive. I've got a Tudor thing going because I just read "The Other Boleyn Girl." JRM is gorgeous, and the rest of the cast is really good too. (He maybe a little old for true "hotness" but I had sort of a crush on Sam Neill when he did Jurassic Park, so I'll be sad when what happens to Cardinal Wolsey happens. Ditto Jeremy North/Thomas More.)

Er... Did I just go all history geek? Sorry.

I'll be catching up on this spring's shows this summer. I'm so behind on everything!

Also, this is my new favorite blog. Love it!

Steph...do you find that there are an inordinate amount of ads during THE RICHES? The show is 70 minutes and I swear, 30 of it is ads!!

Tina...I haven't seen MATCH POINT, but it's on my NetFlix list. I heard it was really good.

Rosemary...thanks for stopping by and we love that we're your favorite new site!!

I think JRM is so gorgeous--and in a very non-traditional way. But I don't know how hot he'll look in the frilly Tudor frocks. We'll see. I don't get cable, so I think I'll have to wait and Netflix it. sigh.
The Riches is... strange. I only saw the first 2 episodes, but I think I'm intrigued. Eddie Izzard is the bomb.
Fun post!

Mostly I'm sticking with old favorites, TV-wise. I checked out The Riches and Black Donnelly's, but both are pretty intense and I just haven't been in the mood for intense TV lately. Ever since Lost, some shows are so jam-packed with intensity that instead of being a break from reality, you feel like you need a break after watching them!

The one new show I'm still debating on is October Road. Mostly because I want to see how Laura Prepon (AKA "Hot Donna" Pinciotti from That 70's Show) does on a drama... :)

I am intrigued about The Tudors, though. And JRM is so pretty. I love his eyes.

I love JRM. Talk about good looking in an other-worldly kind of way.

Makes me wish I had cable... but I did finally hook up a tv with a remote -- that's a start. :)

Hugs,
